I first started this law practice in 2014 and have grown it with a lot of care. While I am a solo practitioner I work closely with Kaspar & Lugay, LLP and am “Of Counsel” of their firm. This makes my practice a unique blend of incorporating the personal touches of a settlement focused small practice with some of the resources and litigation capacity of a larger family law firm.
I intentionally charge slightly below market rate (and on a sliding scale) because I want to be able to help a wide variety of people and I want them to feel good about their experience working with me. A large part of my clients are going through divorces and I especially want them to feel supported and focus on themselves during this challenging time.
Because life circumstances and relationships are fluid and continually evolving over time, I believe it’s important to accept the evolution, have realistic expectations and prepare for the future effectively. A parenting plan that works today may not be as efficient in a couple years as your children grow older and have new activities. I strive to help my clients respond to those changes effectively and with grace.
Family issues are delicate and emotionally charged. How parties act and react to a sensitive situation can pacify or dramatically escalate that situation. I believe that every individual is complex and by helping each party feel heard and facilitating effective conversation, I can help everyone find a solution they can feel good about.
For this reason, I am a trained mediator and a considerable percentage of my practice is dedicated to mediation. Even when handling my contentious cases, I start with a mediation approach and only escalate to litigation when it is necessary. By practicing by this philosophy I am able to effectively represent your objectives without wasting your resources or causing avoidable heartache and stress.
Once we create an attorney-client relationship, I think of us as a team. I want to work with you and make this experience pleasant. Because I am a solo practitioner, I am able to be more flexible. I am technologically savvy and am able to meet virtually or in person. I can also meet clients at my office or a coffee shop. Unlike firms who must consult multiple people to make a decision that is out of the ordinary, I will be able to meet each client’s individual needs faster. I have a more flexible schedule that is not confined by traditional business hours. The legal profession can be rigid, especially traditionally. I take a more comfortable approach to my practice while still producing quality work and maintaining professionalism. This creativity helps me think outside the box, which often is helpful to my clients and even opposing parties.
